A fixed standard has been maintained for the Admission procedure. For classes Pre-Nursery to 2nd Interaction Method has been adopted and for classes 3rd to 12th a written test is required to qualify. Along with the marks in the test the aptitude and attitude of the child are also observed as we wish that if the child is expecting to be a member of goenkan family he/she should be adjusted here properly and should move with the pace of other members. The decision of the Principal would be final in this regard.
In general N.C.E.R.T & C.B.S.E Curriculum has been adopted in our school. Our curriculum is activity & child-centered. We believe that high ideals of life could be attained by three types of activities namely Intellectual, Aesthetic and Moral. Therefore lot many activities based on languages, Mathematics, Science, Social studies, Arts, Poetry, Ethics are included for the promotion of these values. Tours and excursions are also organized on regular basis to give a real experience of the varied aspects of life.Research-rich environment is provided to Goenkans. Students are encouraged to learn in research-like ways, tackling complex problems with a growing level of autonomy; students work in an environment and culture that clearly values research. Advanced academic literacy approach to learning is adopted that stresses the student’s active involvement in understanding the discourse conventions of the discipline, in the belief that language is at the heart of a discipline. Interdisciplinarity in academic perspectives from two or more disciplines and expert communities are brought together in relation to a “real world” such as “the urban environment” in order to generate fresh approaches and insights that could not be attained by disciplines working independently. Global connectedness is brought in for the students so that they should have not only a deep understanding of the wider significance of that which they are studying, but that they are likely to be able to participate effectively in an inter national environment. Year abroad schemes are an obvious example of provision designed to enhance such a capability. Community engagement is recognised and students learn through experiences within and beyond the school. Greater emphasis is laid on the students’ needs. The research on teaching (e.g. action research) concentrates on more relevant issues. There is a more realistic description of the role of Goenkan teachers who have always been and will always be curriculum developers. The development of instruments helps the teachers to do their jobs more efficiently. There is a stronger bond between teaching and the curriculum.
