"A bus of Vishwa Bharti Public School carrying 40 children was returning after school hours around 2 pm and overturned near Crowne Plaza in Surajpur," Deputy Superintendent of Police Anurag Singh said.

One child, identified as Priyanshu, who suffered a major injury in his hand has been admitted to a Delhi hospital, while 30 others suffered minor injuries, Mr Singh said.

The bus driver fled after the accident and is absconding.

The injured students were rushed to a private hospital and most of them were discharged by late evening, he said.
